Rami Malek didn’t let alittle falltake any of the luster off his Oscar.

Malek, 37, was fresh off aBest Actor winat the 91st annual Academy Awards Sunday when he fell from the stage into the audience area just after the broadcast wrapped.

A rep for Malek did not respond to a request for comment.

The newly-minted Oscar winner showed no signs of injury as he picked up his trophy and brought it to the Governor’s Ball to have it engraved.

Malek won his prize for playing the late Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopicBohemian Rhapsody.

“I may not have been the obvious choice, but I guess it worked out,” he said. “I think about what it would have been like to tell little bubba Rami that one day this might happen to him, and I think his curly-haired little mind would be blown. That kid was struggling with his identity, trying to figure himself out and I think to anyone struggling with theirs and trying to discover, their voice, listen, we made a film about a gay man, an immigrant who lived his life just unapologetically himself.”Malek continued, “[It’s] proof that we’re longing for stories like this. I am the son of immigrants from Egypt, I’m a first-generation American. And part of my story is being written right now, and I could not be more grateful.”

The star has been making the awards show rounds this season, and also picked up a best actor win at the Golden Globes, the BAFTA Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The 91st Academy Awards were broadcast live from Los Angeles on Sunday, Feb. 24 on ABC.
