Memphis Police Department Missing Persons
When Kimberly Sistrunk last saw her daughter Kelly, the 30-year-old woman was sitting inside her vehicle in her Memphis, Tenn., driveway.
But 30 minutes later, shortly before midnight Jan. 28, Kelly was gone, according to the Memphis Police Department’sCity Watchfor a Missing and Endangered Person. Her vehicle was still parked in the driveway.
And now, a sheriff in Mississippi says he believes his deputies have found Kelly’s body – about 50 miles from Memphis – in a wooded area on Interstate 22, according toan interviewwith Fox13.
Marshall County deputies found the woman’s body – still clothed – about four miles outside of Holly Springs, Miss., around 9 a.m. Sunday, Sheriff Kenny Dickerson told the outlet.

The woman had been shot in the head, Dickerson said of the preliminary investigation, noting to the outlet yesterday that an autopsy report had not been filed so there was not yet an official cause of death.
The Memphis Police Department first issued aMissing Adult posterfor Kelly Jan. 31, noting on the poster disseminated on social media that it was uncharacteristic of the mother “not to communicate with her family or check in with her son.”

The sheriff’s office is investigating the case as a homicide, the sheriff told the outlet, adding that his deputies were working closely with the Memphis Police Department on the case.

In an interview with Fox13, Kimberly discussed her daughter’s case, noting that the tragedy had left Kelly’s 2-year-old son without a mother.
“They took away our daughter,” she told the outlet.
