Todd Orr ’s Saturday morning was like something directly out ofThe Revenant . After walking off from two savage grizzly bear attacks , he then manage to document the aftermath via a smartphone video , photographs , and an unbelievably chirpyFacebook post .
The story start up last weekend when Orr was hike by himself in Madison Valley , Montana . While walk down a trail , he stumbled upon a distaff grizzly bear with her cubs . The bear ab initio ran off , but then quickly turned and charge at him .
“ I yelled a numeral of times so she knew I was human and would hopefully plough back . No such lot . Within a couple seconds , she was nearly on me . I gave her a full charge of bear spray at about 25 feet . Her momentum carried her right through the orange mist and on me , ” Orr explained in theFacebook military post .
The bear labour Orr to the ground and began to seize with teeth the top of his arms , shoulder , and backpack , while he screen his cervix with his hands and forearm .
“ The force-out of each insect bite was like a sledge hammer with tooth … Over and over , ” he added .
After several minutes , the bear subdued and left him on the ground . Bloodied and throw , Orr picked himself up and channelise back to his truck , some 5 kilometers ( 3 miles ) aside .
But just a few minutes after , the bear returned . While possibly a virgule of bad luck , Orr suspects the bear followed him back down the trail . Once again , the bear found herself at him and the lowering scuffle continued . This time the injuries were even more serious , with one sting to the forearm separate the os and multiple bites and slashes to his read/write head .
“ I did n’t move . I think this was the end . She would finally hit an artery in my neck and I would run out in the trail . But I knew that affect would trigger more bites so I put down motionless hoping it would end , ” Orr said .
Eventually , the bear vanished once again . During the 45 - min journeying back to his motortruck , Orr managed to capture photograph and a video of his injuries . Miraculously , he managed to get back to his vehicle and get safely to the approximate hospital . Although caked in blood and covered in cut , slice , and bruising , Orr was remarkably rosy to have survived , permit alone walk away from , the attack .
Orr signed off his Facebook post by saying : “ Not my best twenty-four hour period , but I ’m alive . So thankful I ’m here to share with all of you :)
“ In a couple weeks I will have to cleanse out the hand truck a minuscule better . My girlfriend says it looks like I had gutted an European elk in the driver seat . "
