More than 20 years after her first red carpet,Dakota Fanning’s style continues to be timeless.
The 30-year-old actressturned it outin Los Angeles on April 3 for the premiere ofRipley,her new seriescostarring Andrew Scott and based on theTalented Mr. Ripleyfilms.
Nearly 23 years prior, the young starlet went with a similar color palette for the late 2001 premiere of her first feature film,I Am Sam.At the time, a beaming Fanning walked the red carpet alongside costarsSean PennandMichelle Pfeifferin a sweet off-white satin dress with an empire waist, paired with white tights, black Mary Janes and a purse shaped like a present.

In the years since, Fanning has gone on to a long list of critically acclaimed projects, picking up a second Critics Choice Award for 2005’sWar of the Worlds(costarringTom Cruise) and another SAG Award nomination for her ensemble work in 2019’s starryOnce Upon a Time … in Hollywood.

At theRipleypremiere, the actress opened up to PEOPLE about her recent work and her latest personal milestone: turning 30 years old this past Feb. 23.
“I don’t know what it is, it’s just like some of the most happiest,”Fanning saidof the past few weeks. “I’m sort of having to do crazy things like schedule-wise and really busy, but I’m totally fine with it. Nothing’s bothering me.”
“I think I just was really focusing on being grateful for what I do have, rather than constantly ruminating on what I don’t have yet," she added. “And really just focusing on the present and taking advantage of this time in my life and enjoying every moment of it.”
