LEGOLANDhas big plans for their newest theme park — but they’ve been put on hold temporarily in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.In October 2019, it was announced that the opening date would be one of the most festive days of the year: the Fourth of July in 2020. But on Tuesday, the company shared that they will push that date back to 2021. The exact opening date has not yet been determined.“Nothing is more important to us than the health, safety and security of our team, the partners we work with, and the communities we serve,” said the resorts’ Divisional Director Stephanie Johnson in a press release. “We are in an unprecedented situation that has affected businesses worldwide. By opening LEGOLAND New York Resort in 2021 we are building an attraction that not only meets our high standards, it also gives our guests the best possible experience.”The company also noted that everyone who has already purchased an annual passes or a single-day tickets will be honored when the park opens.The resort will also move forward with it’s plan to hire 1,000 employees, which they’ve playfully dubbed “model citizens,” and those who had already signed on to work for the 2020 season will be secured a spot for 2021.Plans for the resort in Goshen, New York, were revealed last summer, giving fans a peek at the on-site hotel and the eight themed lands that will make up the 150-acre attraction. As LEGOLAND’s biggest-ever resort, the site will feature more than 50 rides,shows and attractions, which are all designed for kids ages 2-12.Each of the lands is designed to transport visitors into a new world—allbuilt from Lego bricksof course. Guests in theamusement parkwill begin in The Factory to kick off their LEGOLAND New York experience. This land will feature an arch as its landmark, along with a ride exclusive to the New York park called the Great Lego Adventure, where children travel through the steps of becoming a Lego Minifigure.In Bricktopia, guests can build and test their ownLego creationsand attempt to make a tower that won’t fall down on the Earthquake Table.
