Legend and Teigensold their New York City home in the Nolita neighborhood of Manhattan for $18 millionin 2022. The home was made up of two penthouse units — one they purchased in 2018 for just over $9 million and another in 2020 for $7.7 million — which they had hoped to combine eventually.
While discussing the move withWSJat the time, the “Ordinary People” crooner attributed it to the fact that the family often had work commitments in Los Angeles, and it was easier to stay there rather than travel.

“We’ve realized that because of work and everything, we’re really mostly going to be in Los Angeles, so we’re going to focus our home-building energy and renovation energy on what we’re doing in L.A.,” he told the publication in 2020.
He added of his New York home at the time: “We love being there. But we’re just not there enough to justify putting in the time and energy to combine apartments.”
However, that didn’t mean that the big apple didn’t hold a place in his heart. Legend toldWSJthat he often thought of the city — which is where he got his musical start — whenever he was away from it.
“I miss it all the time,” he said. “New York is always going to be my favorite city.”
