Now , after yet anothervicious battle with Chicago ’s NIMBYs , he ’s abandoning his plans there , too . You ’d cerebrate he was trying to build the Death Star or something .
In a process that ’s dragged on longer than the Clone Wars , Lucas has been hear to build a museum for decade to domiciliate his tortuous collection of art — not only his Star Wars memorabilia , but thousand of pieces of Americana that range fromNorman Rockwell paintings to MAD Magazine covers . In Chicago , plans for hisLucas Museum of Narrative Artincluded a radically swoop structure designed byMa Yansong , and also a programme to rehabilitate the lakefront property and make community outreach program . Mayor Rahm Emanuel and many region groups were on plug-in , but a local protagonism mathematical group named “ Friends of Parks ” file a lawsuit to prevent construction from start out . Besides the fact that LA is just more welcoming to these projects in cosmopolitan , Lucas has plenty of ties there , too : He went to the University of Southern California . Maybe LA can best up this museum on the rebound like it did withBoston ’s thwarted Olympics command .
