sooner this week at New York ’s Museum of Modern Art , Fleischer showed off a furbish up version of the animated short , The Mechanical Monsters . The process begin back in2022 , and was n’t gentle . One of the output members was open in calling it “ frustrative ” toward the end of the process , andpreviouslynoted it had to have individual frames cleaned up manually . In the side - by - side comparison below between the original animation and its 35 mm regaining , you see the only affair that ’s really changed is the lighting — the archetype is “ so dark , ” as noted byFlesicherin a Twitter reply , and everything ’s been well brightened .
The Mechanical Monsters released in November 1941 , just two months after Fleischer ’s very first Superman light . Along with being the only Fleischer short to show Superman using his X - ray of light imaginativeness , this is the first instance of Clark Kent entering a speech sound cubicle to change into his heroic character , which would become a fairly common drift of the character to this 24-hour interval .
