Dear and the Headlights: It’s Gettin’ Easy

Off Dear and the Headlight ’s wonderful debut Small Steps , Heavy Hooves , “ It ’s Gettin ’ Easy ” is a bully trivial hole with what might be one of my favorite crescendos ever .

Beyond the slowly climbing forte-piano ordered series , accompanied by the ever more frantic yelp of the tip singer , “ It ’s Getting Easy ” is one of those large songs that go so much more pleasant than its language paint a picture . It ’s a nice little jaunt of a tune , sure , but the lyrics chronicle this sort of insane , reform-minded ego - loathing that builds up into a sort of half - sarcastic , half - perturb proclamation that lastly , it ’s gettin ’ easy .

The band has unfortunately broken up , but Small Steps , Heavy Hooves is still fantastic . If you dig this , check it out .
