Plus find out the deleted scenes about the magician ’s wizardly private parts that were left out of this lamia thriller .

Why do you think it was important for your Peter Vincent type to have such a dark past ? In the original he was just some poor schlub , however your interpretation of Peter Vincent is evenhandedly colored .
You ’re right . He is passably tumultuous and fairly disillusioned . I guess , you ’d have to ask Marti Noxon , who write the script , why she went there , but I call up it bring a texture to the film . It gives a intellect why Peter Vincent should have hit the books vampire - ology to the extent that he has . You cognise plot wise it makes sense . There ’s something nice that there ’s a suggestion of history between Jerry and Peter , that ’s match on quite lightly . But it does evoke that Jerry has been around for hundred of year . It lend a resonance a wickedness and a sort of desperation to what Peter ’s about . And from an performing power point , that ’s just delicious . Because the more layers , the better .
Very petty metre is spent , in this reboot , convert the side character that the lamia is material , unlike the original where Charlie was considered wild for quite some prison term . Was that something that had to be swerve ( or hurry up ) for a today ’s audience ? This moving picture is much faster and darker …

Yes . One of my favorite moments in the movie is the thing that finally convince Charlie . That wonderful moment when a theatrical role explodes in a blaze of orangish 3D particles that float out at you . There ’s still a fear of Charlie not believe it . Again you ’d have to speak to a writer . But I conceive after a sure item you kind of want to get on with it . You want to get to the meat of the Salmon Portland Chase , as it were . I guess you want to get Imogen [ Poots ] and Toni ’s [ Collette ] character involved . You want to get to Peter Vincent , you want to see what happened to Evil Ed . Whether that has to do with the twenty - first one C versus 1985 , I do n’t know . But I think the body structure is very exchangeable . I suppose it ’s just telling the story in a dissimilar way .
What is it about stage illusionist that leaves them open to ridicule ?
I supposed it ’s because everything they do is ultimately a prevarication , is n’t it ? The best magicians do n’t allow you to deflate the facade , that ’s their job . Even though we get laid it ’s all hooey , the best ones bar you from recollect that . But of course — and the same could be say with acting , it ’s quite a light-headed job ultimately . Your job is all about pretending something that is n’t real , is real , even though everyone watching knows it ’s not substantial . It ’s a different kind of acting . And fashion change . thaumaturge these days , send David Blaine , are much more street , and much cool . It ’s all much more casual . Whereas I consider Peter Vincent is from a school where manner has sail . Where it ’s a slightly pompous engross brilliancy . That ’s part of what ’s adorable about the character , he ’s a adult male who ’s just slipping out of time and does n’t really know how to get up to speed . Maybe if we get a sequel , he will have reinvent himself as some variety of street magician and ride in a box above Tower Bridge for 45 day or something .

Everyone is buzzing about a potential Fright Night 2 starring your character . Would you be open to doing another Fright Night ? And you just touched on a little bit of that theme [ with the Blaine reinvention ] but what else is there go forth to differentiate about Peter ?
I think there ’s a lot ! What ’s go on ? What happened to his kinfolk when they were wiped out ? What went on there , how did he put himself back together ? And now that Jerry has in conclusion been bested , how has that leave him ? Is transformed and redeemed ? Or did that sort of fight the demons further down ? I do n’t know . It will all reckon on how this weekend operate . Who knows if we ’ll ever detect the answers to these questions ?
Would you be heart-to-heart to doing another Fright Night ?

Oh , sure . I had a lump , I had a great sentence . I ’ll be looking to see how that possibility weekend decease with great pursuit .
What it ’s like playing a character who call for to be inveigle into going into action as opposed to your previous roles ?
Even the sort of more heroical characters I ’ve played , I ’ve always been more unexpended of center . I do n’t think I ’m quite the sort of Superman type anyway . Even something like Doctor Who — he ’s not your schematic sort of superhero . I quite like that , it ’s just a bit more interesting really . Especially with Peter . Someone who ’s a loth hero , it just gives you something interesting to act . The fact that he has to be drunk to strap on the stake throttle , from an acting point of horizon , is great because it ’s complicated and a morsel dark and frankly a footling bit bed up . And that ’s a lot more fun to diddle than the straight jock .

A circle of your drollery with Colin Farrell felt very natural , was there a spate of improv going on ? What are some of the Peter Vincent moment that will hopefully be on the videodisc ?
Ha ! Yes there was a second of , some of which was still in the film . There ’s a brace of product line that happened in the moment , which I ’m quite proud of to see made the last cut . Craig [ Gillespie ] was very good at let scenes expand a bit and try thing out . He was very good at saying “ put this in this time and see how they oppose . ” There was a bit about the leather pants causing a rash [ on Peter ] , there was an lengthy sequence there which — I do n’t know if that may even make a videodisk departure . That might have to be on some sort of late night bloopers channel . Yeah there were a few , but to be honest I ca n’t really remember now all the bits that might have ended on the cutting room floor . I ’d quite like to see those DVD extras myself .
I would really be intimate to see some more of your magician shtick , if there was more of that , that we did n’t get to see .

We take quite a few tricks and him doing some magic , which have n’t made the last cut . So I ’d be interested in see a few of those … I did an escaping hanging upside down matter in a straight jacket . There was flinging knife at my assistant , I remember . lot of stuff with fire . There was a moment with spate of quick cuts that I saw a duet of them in there somewhere . Most of the features survived , really !
