Today punctuate the fortieth anniversary of Sheer Heart Attack , the album which , by most accounts , launched Queen to external tight - leather - clad stardom . But rather than watchinga pelt - covered Freddie Mercury doing his thing(excellent though that would be ) , here ’s Panic at the Disco ’s cover of ‘ Bohemian Rhapsody ’ , which provides a reasonably fitting homage .
Sheer Heart Attack was Queen ’s first in good order rock hymn — it disgresed from the eariler , more progressive debut album , and gave the world its first appreciation of Queen strait . It shot to # 2 in the US , thanks to some classic racetrack that have survived to this day , include ‘ Killer Queen ’ .
Although ‘ Bohemian Rhapsody ’ did n’t come until a year after , I think this late Panic at the Disco cover is still worthy of a cite — and a shirtless Brandon Urie does a pretty sound job as a Mercury sales booth - in . [ YouTube ]
